For the 2015-2016 academic year, Kate will be on leave from her teaching positions in Los Angeles, and will join the music faculty at the University of Surrey in the UK. She will also be available to teach private guitar lessons in East Sussex and Surrey. Please use the contact page for enquiries.

Kate is currently the Director of Guitar Studies at Los Angeles Valley College and is also a member of the music faculty at California State University, Northridge in Los Angeles. She teaches in both an applied guitar setting (guitar lessons for all levels and styles) and also a classroom environment teaching classes ranging from beginning guitar to guitar-focused courses such a guitar pedagogy, classical guitar history and literature, chamber music, general music theory and popular and classical music history. She also directs a number of guitar orchestra’s and a new music ensemble.

Kate has been teaching guitar for over 20 years. She has taught at the University of Southern California (teaching assistant from 1999-2000), Loyola Marymount University-LA (2001-2012),  Los Angeles City College (2002-2006) and numerous community music projects throughout Los Angeles and in the United Kingdom. She has primary and secondary school music teaching experience and has taught for many years as a private instructor.

As both a classroom instructor and private instructor, Kate is a dedicated and inspiring educator. Her extensive teaching and performance experience, diverse playing skills,  and deep love for the instrument allow her to be a highly effective pedagogue.
